Q: What’s the best drugstore in Canada to buy drugs online?
I need to buy Advair, a 250 mg Diskus costs $175 here in the US. In Canada the same product costs around 1/3 of the price. But the question is: Which drugstores in Canada are trustworthy?
Thanks in advance.

A: =here is a good link for you.

Q: Does Seretide (Advair) work if it does not come in a foil pouch?
I just found out that Seretide is the same thing as Advair, and it is so much cheaper to buy Seretide in Mexico. However, it does not come in a foil pouch like Advair. The Advair instructions emphasize that it is only good for 30 days after opening the foil pouch. So I am wondering if anyone has tried the Seretide from Mexico, without the foil pouch, and if it still works. Thanks for your help.

A: even in india seretide comes without a foil pouch and is thought to be one of the most effective and costliest.

Q: How do you stop taking Advair?
I have been taking Advair for about 2 years and want to know how to stop taking it, I can’t afford to buy it anymore.

A: Oh, man. I wish I could give you mine, the doctor just took me off of it about a month and a half ago!! I have like more than two months worth in the cabinet!

You should call your doctor and ask. Some medicine’s shouldn’t be stopped cold turkey. He may tell you that it will be okay to just stop but check with him first.

Q: How can I buy medicines in U.S without a U.S doctor prescirption?
I am traveling on business to United States and wanted to pick up medicines for my sister back in India. I have a prescription given by the India doctor, however the pharmacy told me that I need a U.S doctor prescription.

Can anybody help me with how I can go about procuring the medicines. Its only a Asthma inhaler calld Advair Diskus.

Thanks for any information

A: You can’t. Maybe on-line from Mexico or Canada.

Q: serevent or advair generic eqvilalents?
Is there a generice that I can buy for SEREVENT, Iknow it is SALMETROL, but is there a cheaper generic. Same for ADVAIR.

A: Unfortunately there are not generic forms of these medications. The discus medications are so new that they are not able to be reproduced to make generic forms.
Its unfortunate that they are so expensive because they are both excellent controlled medications for many with asthma and copd.

Q: Can I get my asthma medication while in China?
I’m going for a one year study program in China, and I have asthma. I’m currently taking Advair and Singulair. Is it possible to get these medications in China, and if so, what kind of insurance (if any) do I need to get them? Do I need to get prescriptions or not? How much does it cost to buy with and without insurance?

Any information is appreciated!

A: Yes you will be able to get asthma medication in China especially in the large cities such as Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou. Medication in general is much less expensive in China and in most countries outside the US. You probably don’t have to worry about insurance. Also in China, physicians control the distribution of prescription drugs. Some hospitals and clinics stipulate patients must buy prescription drugs from the hospitals or directly from the physicians who make the prescriptions.

Q: Advair diskus, asthma medications. can i get it in the UK? where?
Would be in the Uk for some time any advice on where i can buy my asthma medication?

A: Advair Diskus ( salmeterol xinafoate – fluticasone propionate) is available in the UK as Seretide Accuhaler. You would be advised to take sufficient with you to last a few days and make enquiries at your nearest Chemist (Pharmacy). The price, at march 2006 was 100 accuhaler – GBP. 31.19; 250 accuhaler – GBP. 36.65; 500 accuhaler GBP. 40.92; 50 evohaler GBP 19.50; 125 evohaler GBP. 39.41; 250 evohaler GBP. 66.98. As these prices were from march 2006, I would presume that they have increased.
Hope this helps

Q: Air Purifiers with a hepa filter?
which one is the best? The quietest? Provides the most relief?
It seems I may have developed some health issues from my sweet little African Grey’s dander. Getting rid of him is not an option. Currently have Bronchial Sinusitis… on Advair and Keflex…. and the Doctor suggested I get a purifier with a hepa filter. Which one do I buy?

A: Your doctor should have suggested the Sun Pure SP-20C. This is what he is using in his lab most likely. What doctors won’t tell you is that the air cleaners work better than the drugs, since the drugs only relieve the symptoms while the air cleaners remove the source. Take a look at the info on http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/portable-air-purifiers.html to see how well your money will be spent on this investment into your health and actually the health of your pet. Good luck!!

Q: What is your opinion of health care in america?
Now first off I want to say that I respect and believe we have the best health care system in the world. I also have bought the most expensive insurance (120 dollars a month) from where I work. I get 15 dollar doctor visits and thats about it… no coverage on prescriptions. Now my problem is I have severe asthma, and allergies. Doctors want to give me shots and I live off free samples of advair, singular etc. I want to have a choice to get something better. Is obama’s plan going to help me? I dont see how it could be worse then the insurance I already have.. I would much rather us privatize insurance companies so they can compete to get us to buy their insurance then have it through the workplace or universal healthcare.. but it seems universal healthcare is the way we are currently going towards.. or government insurance if you will.

So basically I work and pay for my own insurance but I cannot afford what I really need. I am in debt medically about 10 grand already for constant infections from my bad immune system which I need shots for. I need something better.. and I believe millions of Americans do too..

A: We certainly don’t have the best health care system in the world. We probably DO have the best health care in the world. At least, that’s what we’re led to believe. Our health care system is broken. It’s that simple. It’s all about the almighty dollar. Nowhere else in the world can health care workers, of any kind make so much money. Why do you think we have so many foreign doctors? They go where the money is, of course! Where I live there isn’t one, NOT ONE american doctor. Granted, it’s a small city, but you’d think one would have a choice.
Insurance pays next to nothing anymore. Especially if you have any kind of chronic illness. The disease of the month right now is Diabetes. According to the new guidelines just about everyone has diabetes. And hypertension too. Because if you have diabetes you must have hypertension and high cholesterol. Supposedly, these all go together. All of this is because the insurance companies lowered the “normal” guidelines a few years ago. Having done that they’ve made everything a preexisting condition. Now, you tell me, was that because it’s true, or because no one over the age of 30 can meet those guidelines, and therefore the insurance companies don’t have to pay. You make the call. Like you I also have insurance. Also like you it costs me a fortune, and pays next to nothing. But the majority of Americans can’t afford it, so basically they’re just screwed. We can hope that President Obama can do something about this, but I can tell you he’s in for one hell of a battle. The healthcare community, the pharmacy companies, and the insurance companies have a nice little racket going, and they won’t want to lose it.
I’ve watched this mess for 32 years. As a nurse I have a front row seat. Sorry for the “soap-box” opinion, but this is a touchey subject for me.

Q: Where does the health reform stand on the drug companies?
I have heard a lot about health care but not so much on bring down prices on drugs ! On everyday drugs like advair and spiriva the prices are way too high. I can understand high prices on major health issue’s but canadian drug companies have the same name brand discs three for less than one the price here.I would buy them from walgreens osco if they were cheaper! I get the same quality of relief as I did when I spent 200.00 for one inhaler here. I would like to bring back my business to America but I have no insurance because of pre exsisting asthma so no one will insure me

A: That is a good question! I want to know the answer too. I was watching a news special and Obama was talking about how pharmaseudical companies are overcharging so their CEO’s can live in luxury. It almost made me puke. I live with constant migraines (at least one a week) and I can’t even afford my migraine medication. I do have insurance, but insurance companies are picky on what they cover.

I also work at a small rural clinic. Our reimbursement from Medicaid and Medicare is being cut drastically. Now I see why many places don’t accept these insurances.

Q: Cough! My 6 year old just came down with a cough 2 days ago, very little runny nose, cough sounds pretty dry..
just started a very low grade fever, acts fine but the cough is horriable! I’ve given him cough medicine, cough drops, honey, we bought the vicks vapor fan, orange juice, we even did and dose of Advair, the Dr. gave him a while back for the same sort of thing. Nothing is working. He sounds horriable but it doesn’t seem to bother him….any suggestions…

A: sounds like a cold, keep an eye on temp, keep giving fluids and give him something clear/warm to sip on (tea, apple juice, water with honey) and perhaps an extra pillow (lying flat make cough worse sometimes. Just sit back and let the storm ride itself out unless he gets worse, the off to the Doc you go.

Q: Air Force tech school, asthma?
Okay, I’m currently in the Air Force, and am about half way through my tech school, (security forces) and was supposed to be doing PRP in minot ND, so because of this there is a certain background check that is done to be cleared to work on a nuclear base. Well heres the problem, I have a history of asthma and had insurance through Tri-Care so all of my prescriptions were bought with it (military insurance). Well turns out that they were able to pull these records and see presciptions for asthma medications (singulair, advair, albuterol, etc) So because of that they called me into medical and requested that I have my civilian medical records pulled. I had records from 2 facilities pulled, a hospital and a clinic. The hospital ones came immediately, showing about 4 visits to the ER because of asthma related incidents in the past 5-6 years, and I’m still waiting on the medical records from the clinic which will show ALL of my past records that I’m aware of dating way back to grade school. So the captain who is working on the “case” tells me that usually in this situation I will either be seperated or put up for a waiver. She says I’m going to be given a test to determine if indeed I have asthma and how severe it may be. Well I had no problems through BMT or tech school so far, nor have I had any in the past couple years. But if I do fail this test I’m just curious as to what kind of discharge will I receieve. I believe I’m already past my 180 day mark because I started BMT in september, and then I was reclassed from EOD back in late november, so I believe I dont qualify for ELS. I’m mainly worried about getting dishonorable for fraudulant enlistment. Does anyone know the possibilities of that happening, or if I will most likely get a general or a medical? Any advice would help. Thanks!

A: If they don’t court-martial you then the worst you will get is an Other than Honorable discharge, although you may end up with just a General Discharge. If nothing else, expect not to be allowed to come back in for hiding a history of asthma.

Q: I just found out I have Asthma?
and please bare with me on this. My GP said it was COPD, I went to a Pulmonary Specialist and this doc said it’s Asthma and gave me Advair and Pro-air(Albuterol). My question, can you have allergy Asthma? I noticed that when I am in my apartment it is really bad. We cleaned the place like crazy, however, I can still smell this musk-like smell. I have a cat. Is it possible that it could be the cat causing this? I’m fine if I’m outside. I swam all summer no problems and my cat is usually out on the balcony all summer so I didn’t notice the smell. Also my nose runs and sometimes I get puffy eyes, chest is tight like a brick most of the day, even after I use my meds. I am a stay at home home, so I sit here most of the week. I just bought two humidifers and have no problems in the bedroom, it’s the living room. I don’t go back to the Pulmonary Specialist until Jan. 25th. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, except for get rid of the cat because I won’t! I love her to much. Thanks to all
I had a PFT and a V/Q scan done, also x-rays. I was more upset that my GP said it was COPD. The specialist said it’s asthma. I haven’t gotten a allergy test done though.

A: my son has been going thru much of the same thing for the last 2 years. My son has viral induced asthma, but there many different triggers that cause people’s asthma. Allergies, asthma and excema go hand and hand. Have you ever had an allergy test done? There are skin tests and a simple blood draw one too. You may want to look into it. COPD is a chronic problem, it is different that asthma in that it is a permanent issue. The little airways in your lungs with COPD have become rigid and stiff and will never get better, with asthma, they just become inflamed from a trigger. I would say clean your furnace filter well, put covers on your mattresses, pillows and wash all bed linens at least 1ce a week in hot water. Dry in dryer on hottest setting as well. You have to find your triggers. Have you done any breathing tests. The pulmonologist should be able to tell by breathing test and a chest xray if it is asthma.
